Abstract

In principle, the adoption of highly conductivehoneycomb monoliths, washcoated with a cobalt basedcatalyst, within compact multitubular units, would allowthe development of intensified modular reactors forthe low temperature Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, pavingthe way for a small-scale GTL technology. Indeed, suchreactors would consent to to approach the ideal plugflowbehaviour while (i) enabling isothermal operation,(ii) facilitating the intraparticle mass-transfer, and (iii)limiting pressure drop. The feasibility and the operabilityof such a technology is shown in this work by means of acombination of experimental activities and a modelling work.
