Dirk Spielvogel is an organic chemist by training and has received his doctorate from the University of Freiburg i.Br., Germany. Following a postdoctoral stint with Professor S. Buchwald at MIT, he started his industrial career in 2002 at Solvias AG in Basel, Switzerland.
After initial contributions as a project chemist, he was given roles of increasing responsibility as a group head and later as a customer project manager to deliver integrated development and manufacturing services to Solvias’ clients, highlighted by the 2012 Sandmeyer prize award for the manufacture of Protoporphyrin IX.
In 2012 he accepted a new opportunity by joining F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd., as a global project coordinator overseeing and contributing to late stage launch activities of products including the successful launch of Alecensa®.
In 2016, a job rotation has further broadened his insights to technical development by leading CMC activities of an early phase asset as a technical development leader.
