AM Technology is near to turn 20. Looking back to the year 2000, what was life like at the beginning and what has changed?

AM Technology was founded by two of us in 2000. My background was in chemical engineering and David Morris was a specialist in instrumentation and control. The first 5 years were committed to plant scale reaction calorimetry. We developed batch reactors with variable area jackets capable of measuring reaction rates and yield with exquisite sensitivity. The prototypes were built in a domestic garage and trials run at third party sites. The technology was adopted by several major process equipment companies but by 2005 industry sentiment had shifted strongly in favour of flow chemistry.  Much of our know-how was transferrable and so we shifted our attention to flow r ...
