Jochen Becker is Global Project Manager at Evonik Nutrition & Care GmbH, currently coordinating and overseeing the interface of process R&D and engineering.
He has 9 years experience in pharmaceutical process R&D and project management.
Jochen is born in Marburg, Germany. He studied Chemistry at the University of Muenster, Germany, and obtained a Ph.D. in the field of stereoselective organometallic chemistry and cytotoxic
natural product synthesis (supervisor Prof. D. Hoppe) in 2008. After a postdoctoral stay with Prof. K. C. Nicolaou at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, USA, he joined Evonik Industries
in Hanau as Lab Head in the Process Development Department in 2009. He developed various processes for APIs and intermediates and transferred them between international sites.
In 2010 he was project responsible for the setup of a laboratory for HPAPI process development, which he then headed as lab head. In 2013 he was appointed Group Head and Senior Project
manager in the Health Care PR&D department and has developed continuous processes for organometallic reactions and continuous downstream processes. Besides his experience in pharmaceutically
active small molecules, he developed a process for L-Lactide for parenteral biopolymers and a process for a pharmaceutically active polymer.
