STRESA 2017: THE 1ST INTERCONTINENTAL PERSONAL CARE EXCELLENCE CONFERENCE –
A NEW BRIDGE BETWEEN THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITIES IS OPENED!

HPC Today

Take home messages from the event paving the way to 2018

GIULIO FEZZARDINI – H&PC TODAY JOURNAL – MEDIA SPONSOR

We are in regular contact with SCC since the birth of HPC Today, attending events such the Supplier’s Day (great seasonal meeting point in New York) and the interesting SCC conferences.  During the years what was a professional, business contact turned into a friendly relationship.
As regards Japan, the cosmetic business of this Country is historically a milestone, a remarkable reference in terms of research and innovation since ever.
So, we were thrilled when the project of this conference came true.
As an international media specialised in chemistry we have been always open to initiatives which create bridges in the scientific community. And Stresa has been indeed the reunion of a community.
A great offer in terms of contents, The Monographic courses on Epigenetics and Skin Lipodomics, the Round Table on regulations, the scientific presentations, the latest from the market, the networking atmosphere in the magic Scenario of the Lake Maggiore, made this event a remarkable and unforgettable event.
As every first time, the event had its tough moments, especially the anxiety to offer a remarkable meeting.
But the bet was won. The attendees of this first edition are looking forward to attending the 2018 event.
And this is very meaningful. So, thanks to the organizers, the speakers, the companies, the attendees.
See you next year again!

STEFANIA MOTTA –SICC PRESIDENT – CHAIRWOMAN

The Conference was one of the most informative and constructively critical meetings I have ever participated in. Cosmetic Chemists were afforded a rich and wide array of genetic and skin biology concepts.
We focused on how complex, resistant and at the same time delicate in its equilibrium is the organ to which we apply our products and how fundamentally important it is to maintain the homeostasis of the epidermal barrier.
Critical analysis covered: sun screen products from formulation to amelioration of homogeneity of the filter molecules in the finished product and efficacy in terms of breakage and penetration of filters into the skin; nanomaterials and their advantages were compared to the use of non nano molecules of the same compound; the possibility of refreshing and modernizing formulations only by adding minimum percentages of rheological modifier of silicon origin.
Thanks to the attendees’ participation the conference was informative and formative and we hope to continue this good work together in the 2018 upcoming meeting.

ELIO MIGNINI – SICC GENERAL MANAGER AND CHAIRMAN

“The 1st IPCE Conference in Stresa was a real challenge for the organizers: both the format and the organizing network were experimental! 27 invited and keynote scientists, coming from 3 Continents, have succeeded in the podium, providing cutting-edge information on the advancement of cosmetic science in the world. 2 Monographic courses on Epigenetics and Skin Lipodomics, conducted by top level teachers from important cosmetic multinationals preceded the conference, receiving remarkable appreciation from participants, despite the tropical climate in the classroom due to the malfunctioning of the conditioning system! Of particular interest was also the Round Table on Regulatory Differences, which saw a lively discussion among EU, US and Japanese Regulatory Officers and experts. The enchanting atmosphere of Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands has been the backdrop to what has proved to be an unforgettable event in the Cosmetic Congress panorama. Given the success of the 1st Edition, it has already been decided to repeat this experience in June 2018 in another enchanting Italian spot”.

TONY O’LENICK – IFSCC EDUCATION CHAIR – SCC PAST PRESIDENT (2015)

The program was a truly international educational experience, with representatives from Europe, Asia and North America. The program was unique in that education on specific well-defined topics, not commercialism. The societies (SCC and SICC) are non-profit organizations that have education as their only goal. The first day there were two distinguished speakers (Dr Epstein and Dr Pappas) that provided courses, followed by two full days of cutting edge science from some of the top researchers in our industry. Well done.

PETER TSOLIS – SCC PRESIDENT

It was great to see such a high level of science in the first annual SICC conference. The brought together experts from around the globe with participation from as far as Japan, China and the US – along with countless European countries represented. It was also a testament to the growing Italian cosmetic society, with members coming together from the different regions of Italy to the picturesque setting of Stresa. For the industry to continue to evolve, cosmetic scientist must search for knowledge not only within their specific area, but attain global expertise to be able to elevate their performance in their respective company. Events such as SICC provide an excellent venue to exchange information and hear the latest research presented. The SCC looks forward to close collaborations with all the global cosmetic societies, and strives to advance scientific knowledge and education for its members.

HOWARD EPSTEIN – EMD Performance Products – COURSE INSTRUCTOR

The Conference was a very high-quality event.  The day before the technical presentations two educational courses were offered; gene expression for the cosmetic chemist, a course providing insight into the most recent technology trends and methods available to develop “state of the art” skin and hair care products.  A second course reviewed the critical role of lipids and skin health.  The courses were followed by a round table discussion on regulatory issues in Europe, United States and Japan.   The days following the courses provided attendees with accomplished speakers from ingredient suppliers, finished goods and consultants.  It was a perfect mix of speakers each offering insight with the aim for developing and promoting the most efficacious products to the market place.  I look forward to more meetings of this calibre, in the future.

FUJIHIRO KANDA – SHISEIDO – CHAIRMAN AND SPEAKER

The unexpected heat wave in Italy took me by surprise, but other than that, thanks to the hard work conducted by the Italian and American organizers within such a short period of time for preparation, I enjoyed every minute of both the scientific sessions and social events with nothing but good memories of the Conference as well as the beautiful city of Stresa by the lakeside. I believe this was a classic example of how we took full advantage of the modest size of the audience where we all felt like a member of a big family regardless of gender, nationality, religion or complexion, sharing the latest findings in cosmetic science as well as enjoying the wonderful food and drinks together. Given the success of this first Conference despite the lack of time for preparation, I cannot wait for the second round scheduled next year that doubtlessly can only improve.

GIULIO PIROTTA – NEOVITA CONSULTING – CHAIRMAN AND SPEAKER

“The event in cooperation between SICC and SCC with the endorsement of Japanese society it will be the first of a long series, sure. The emotional feed-back from participants is the guarantee of this, with the objective of social networking in real world the organization has been able to offer a great scientific program alongside the opportunity to interact also with speakers in an easy way. The regulatory round table that I managed was interactive and with the opportunity to leave some answers directly, not only looking at slides. The concept is quite good, you can have some good info, contacts and prizes only being there so the 2018 event is a must to be and fix in the agenda; I’ll be there.
