Annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD)
March 1-5, 2019 in Washington, DC, was the venue for the annual meeting of the AAD.  Total attendance exceeded 18,00 people including approximately 10,00 dermatologists and other medical investigators.  Heidi Kong, MD, National Institute of Health, Bethesda Maryland, USA presented on her most recent research of the human microbiome. Microbes are considered pathogenic; on the other- hand they are very important for maintenance of human health.  Microbes promote vitamin synthesis, inhibit colonization of pathogens and play a role in development of the immune system.  Dr. Kong uses a DNA sequencing protocol to identify microbes on skin.
