What is Salmonella? How can we control and reduce it?

Salmonella, which affects more than 100,000 Europeans every year, is a bacteria found in the intestines of healthy birds and mammals. In foods, it is most frequently found in eggs and raw meat from pigs, turkeys and chickens. An EFSA scientist explains how Europe-wide efforts are reducing the impact of this disease.
