Cosmetic world: a high tech universe

Abstract

Cosmetic world represents a high tech universe full of innovative systems adapted both to users and products. Design, clever adaptations and digital systems conduct to a large diversity of innovative products that are proposed in the beauty world, let’s have a short overview of some examples.


MAIN ECONOMICAL ELEMENTS

The global worldwide cosmetic market is estimated in 2017 at $200 billion, a good health,  showed a growth of 5% (mainly in Asia/Pacific, 37%; North America, 25%; Western Europe, 18%, Latin America, 11%, Eastern Europe, 6%, Africa and Middle East 3%). This global market is set to achieve a compound annual growth rate of 7.10% for 2017/2023 and the flagships categories remain the skin care products (37%), haircare products (22%), make-up (19%), fragrance (12%) and hygiene products (10%) (worldwide 2017 repartition). The most performing targets remain make-up (+7%), skincare (+6%) and the whole luxury beauty market (+8%) which is specifically successful for the last year (2016/2017) (Figure 1) (1-3).
