Parental concerned about the impact of modern lives on children’s health

Abstract

Parents are becoming more worried about the health and wellbeing of their children, something that they will want to address. While there may have been some heightened concerns over health due to COVID-19, parents have had chance to re-evaluate lifestyles over the last eighteen months, recognizing that busy lives and the dependency on convenience and technology, can impact on children’s wellbeing in the long-term. This is something that will drive demand for products positioned around convenient and instant solutions, allowing parents to better manage personal and professional obligations and monitor the dietary habits of kids.

The last eighteen months is something that has significantly influenced the attitude of parents towards their children’s health. Indeed, despite non-adults generally being seen as less at-risk to complications arising from COVID-19, 76% say that they have become more concerned about the wellbeing of their child as a result of the virus. At the same, a total of 77% say that they have also been more proactive in addressing their child’s health.

This is something that will have a direct impact on cooking and purchasing habits, especially as parents demonstrate a variety of concerns over the health of their young, while 45% believe that their children are lacking vital nutrients from their diets. However, to put this increased level of concern purely down to the pandemic would be misleading.

Instead, over the period, parents have re-evaluate the health and wellbeing of themselves and loved ones in an era where there has been more scrutiny than ever over health. As a result, they are recognizing that modern day lives are something that can contribute to the risk of long-term health issues.
