Abstract

HPC Today for this new column on “Laundry & Cleaning: industry Perspectives” interviewed Sascha Nissen, Director of Sustainability – A.I.S.E. who has been one of the driving forces behind the industry’s flagship initiative ‘Charter for Sustainable Cleaning’ and industry voluntary schemes since he joined in 2005. In additional to the Charter, Sascha leads the development and implementation of A.I.S.E.’s Sustainable Development strategy, covering a wide range of activities for the sector in Europe.


WHAT DOES A.I.S.E STAND FOR AND HOW DO YOU HELP COMPANIES TO MEET TODAY’S CONSUMER AND USER’S DEMANDS?
A.I.S.E., the European association representing the detergents and maintenance products industry, and its members have a long history of common industry action to promote safe and sustainable use of their products, both as a sector and with other relevant partners. We have been the voice of the industry in Europe for 70 years and we are going to celebrate this at the end of this year, so stay tuned :).

 

CAN YOU ELABORATE ON THE CURRENT POLITICAL LANDSCAPE AND THE IMPACT THIS WILL HAVE ON THE DETERGENTS AND MAINTENANCE PRODUCTS INDUSTRY?
From a global perspective, the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) are a framework to achieve a better more sustainable future for everybody. Implementation of the SDGs in Europe is high on the agenda of the European Commission, and when the European Green Deal was launched in December 2019 by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, a clear reference was made to the SDGs.
