Across the world, the population is aging. There are more people in the ‘elderly’ bracket, or 60 +, than ever before: according to World Health Organization data, there were 962 million people who were 60 years or older in 2017, more than doubling since 1980. And the process is not slowing down: by 2050, the number is expected to reach 2.1 billion.
